May sound a little stupid but sure it’s knowledge you’ll keep for the
rest of your life. Cows do indeed have best friends and can get stressed
when they are separated. The findings come from Krista McLennan, a
scientist who made the discovery while working on her PhD at Northampton
University. In case you’re wondering what she was looking for when
making the findings, it was all to do with increasing milk yields.
the cortisol levels and heart rates of cows to establish how they cope
after isolation. Cattle were confined on their own, with their favorite
partner or another cow they didn’t know for half an hour, then the heart
rates measures at 15-second intervals. It was found that cows are very
social animals that often cultivated close bonds with friends in their
herd.
