2pac’s “Dear Mama” is preserved in Library of Congress!

The man continues to inspire generations even almost two decades after his passing. Tupac Shakur. Once reputed to be the best rapper to ever grace the globe.

And it seems  his influence stretched even to the corridors of power. Tupac is one of three American rappers who have a song preserved in the Library of Congress. The other two belong to Public Enemy and Grandmaster Flash. Tupac had his ’95 smash single ‘Dear Mama’ honored and it was one of the 25 tracks in the year 2010 to be added to the National Recording Registry.
The single talks about motherhood in the face of poverty and no doubt a hit to date. The Library deemed the track to be a ‘moving and eloquent homage to both the rapper’s own mother and all others struggling to maintain a family in the face of addiction, poverty, and societal indifference.’
